Domestic Violence:
HB1958 - Modifies various provisions relating to law enforcement protections.
Healthcare & Pharmacies:
HB1961 – Relates to the duty of pharmacies to fill prescriptions.
Pay Equity:
HB1962 – Requires equal pay for the same work regardless of gender and establishes a commission to study wage disparities.

DWI Reform and Safety:
HB1666 – Establishes Cary’s Law which requires all intoxication-related traffic arrests and any action taken by the prosecutor on these arrests to be entered into the State Highway Patrol’s DWI Tracking System
HB1828 – Modifies laws relating to driving while intoxicated
HB1877 – Requires the driver and each front-seat passenger in cars and trucks to wear a safety belt with certain exceptions
HB2061 – Prohibits text messaging while driving for drivers of all ages and prohibits cell phone use for all drivers under the age of eighteen
Education:
HB1732 – Requires the State Board of Education to establish the Coordinated Health Program Board to develop a program on the prevention of student obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type II diabetes.
HB1875 – Provides outreach services, educational training for child care professionals, and subsidies for early childhood programs
HB1938 – Prohibits school bus drivers to sit idling the engine of a school bus while loading or unloading children at a school or while waiting for children to load or unload at a school
HB2036 – Changes the laws regarding bullying in schools
HB2067- Requires schools to report certain student enrollment information to the department of elementary and secondary education
Environment and Energy:
Protecting our environment is a top priority for me. I am an advocate for expanding mass transit, encouraging green building, and ensuring that we have clean air and clean water in Missouri.
I am also a member of the 2010 Green Schools Caucus, a bi-partisan legislative effort to encourage school districts to update their buildings with green construction and smart green energy use. I am especially proud that Clayton Schools in the district are leaders in green building/remodeling.
HB1667 – Establishes requirements for environmentally sustainable construction for certain state-funded buildings
HB1766 – Repeals the Indoor Clean Air Act and enacts new provisions regarding smoking in public places
HB1929 – Establishes the Renewable Energy Information and Reporting Act which requires the Missouri Public Service Commission to provide an annual report on renewable energy trends and new developments
HB1930 – Requires state agencies to engage in energy conservation and requires state buildings to meet the International Energy Conservation Code
HB1932 – Requires sellers of newly constructed residential homes to disclose to initial purchasers the energy efficiency rating of homes based on the energy star rating system
HB1933- Establishes the Missouri Global Warming Solutions Act of 2010 to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases
Equality and Justice:
HB1850 – Changes the laws regarding complaints filed with the Missouri Commission on Human Rights and prohibits discrimination based upon a person’s sexual orientation
HCR55 – Urges Congress to replace the “don’t ask don’t tell” policy of the United States military with a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of sexual orientation
Ethics and Campaign Finance Reform:
HB1727 – Changes the laws regarding ethics, lobbying, and campaign contributions
Healthcare & Child Safety:
The state legislature must address viable healthcare reform to make it both accessible and affordable to all Missourians, particularly for the middle class, many who cannot afford skyrocketing premiums. I fully support mandating insurance coverage for families dealing with autism, eating disorders and infertility issues.
HB1586 – Authorizes a sales and use tax exemption for certain physical exercise or personal training classes.
HB1641 – Establishes the Missouri Universal Health Assurance Program to provide a publicly financed, statewide insurance program for all residents of this state
HB1733 and HB1734- Requires all health insurance carriers or health benefit plans to provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders
HB1777 – Requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation designating May 10 as “Colon Cancer Awareness Day”
HB1778 – Requires the Governor to issue an annual proclamation designating September 14 as “Organ Donor Awareness Day”
HB1924 – Requires hospitals to compile and post daily staffing information in patient care areas of each unit of the hospital
HB1925 – Prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of certain products and containers containing certain levels of bisphenol-A
HB1939 – Prohibits the manufacture, sale, or distribution of any toy or child care item containing certain phthalates
HCR36 – Designates May 2010 as “Colon Cancer Awareness Month” in Missouri
Jobs & Workers Rights:
HB1642 – Authorizes a tax credit for employers who hire certain high school students for summer jobs
HB2079 – Establishes the Paid Sick Days Act which requires employers to provide sick days with pay to employees
HCR15 – Supports the passage of the federal Employee Free Choice Act to protect and preserve for America’s workers their freedom to choose for themselves whether or not to form a union
HB1940 – Requires certain businesses to provide four weeks of paid family leave for its employees for the birth or adoption of a child
HB1587 – Increases the annual cap on the tax credits certified for qualified film production projects from $4.5 million to $10 million
Women’s Health & Domestic Violence:
HB1914- Establishes the Compassionate Assistance for Rape Emergencies (CARE) Act which allows hospitals and health care facilities to provide emergency contraception to sexual assault
HB1934 – Establishes Christy’s Law requiring health providers to inform victims of rape or sexual assault of their right to request a drug test to determine if a drug was used to facilitate the rape or sexual
HB1935 – Requires health insurers to provide coverage for human papillomavirus screenings for cervical cancer
HB1937 – Allows a temporary exemption from the proof of lawful presence requirement when victims of domestic violence apply for a driver’s license or instruction permit
HB1957 – Changes the requirements for information recorded in MULES regarding ex parte orders of protection
Other:
HB1668 – Changes the designation of a portion of U. S. Highway 160 in Greene County from the “Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel Memorial Highway” to the “Simon Wiesenthal Memorial Highway”
HB1683 – Establishes the Commission on the Death Penalty and places a moratorium on all executions until January 1, 2013
HB1773 – Allows the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate, to appoint a student to the University of Missouri Board of Curators
HB1848 – Creates the Urban Farming Task Force to study and make recommendations regarding the impact of urban cooperatives, verticale farming, and sustainable living
HB1870 – Establishes the Commission on the Death Penalty, places a moratorium on all executions until January 1, 2013 and creates the Cold Case Investigation Revolving Fund
HB1874 – Changes the laws regarding actions against a person for conduct or speech at public hearings or meetings
HB1876 – Prohibits lenders from imposing a fine, fee, or penalty for prepaying a loan and repeals the provision allowing a prepayment fee to be charged on a second mortgage loan
HB1926 – Requires persons adopting a dog or cat to pay a fee of at least $50 which is refundable upon verification that the animal has been spayed or neutered
HB1927 – Allows for the compensation of a person wrongfully convicted and imprisoned
HB1936 – Requires lenders of unsecured loans of $500 or less, commonly known as payday loans, to display in the lobby a brochure detailing the eligibility requirements for the Missouri Food Stamp Program
HB1998 – Repeals all provisions relating to the professional registration of interior designers
HCR41 – Urges Congress to designate the Liberty Memorial at the National World War I Museum in Kansas City as the National World War I Memorial
